State of Ohio Shelby County SS In the Matter of the Adoption of Maggie Ellen Brandon In Probate Court. Journal Entry Sidney O. Feb'y 4th, 1882 This day came P.S. Lawhead & Mary Lawhead his wife and filed herein their petition to adopt and change the name of Maggie Ellen Brandon to Maggie Ellen Lawhead. And this court being advised in the premises, find that Said petitioners are husband and Wife; that they are inhabitants of the State of Ohio, and residents of this County; that Said Maggie Ellen Brandon is aged 14 years Feb'y 18th A.D. 1881. And the Said Mary Lawhead was examined in the Court, Separate and apart from her Said husband, from which Examination the court is Satisfied that Said wife, of her own free will and accord, desires such adoption; and Nettie Agan, a suitable person appointed by the Court for that purpose, the parents of Said Maggie Ellen Brandon having abandoned her having filed herein her written consent to such adoption, which consent is attached to and filed with Said petition; and the Court being Satisfied of the ability of the petitioners to bring up and Educate Said Child properly: It is therefore Considered and Ordered by the Court that from and after the date of this order the Said Maggie Ellen Brandon be and is to all legal intents and purposes the Child of Said petitioners P.S. & Mary Lawhead, and that the name of Said Maggie Ellen Brandon be and is hereby Changed to Maggie Ellen Lawhead.
