Mrs. Anna Ankrom

Miss Anna Ankrom, aged 67 years, well known school teacher, died Tuesday, October 20, at her home in Franklin township after an illness of several months. Miss Ankrom was head of the English department of the Homestead High school, but last spring she was granted a leave of absence because of failing health. Returning to her home near Waynesburg, she continued to decline and was unable to resume her work this fall. Miss Ankrom had taught a number of terms in the schools of Greene and Washington counties and before going to Homestead she was a member of the faculty of Corapolis High school. She was born May 18, 1858, a daughter of the late Arthur I. Ankrom and Margaret Fordyce Ankrom. She was graduated from the Southwestern State Normal school at California, and also from Waynesburg College and Columbia University. She atended the Methodist Protestant church. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. H. L. Sproat and Miss Lottie E. Ankrom, both of Franklin township. Funeral services were held at the H. L. Sproat home yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Charles Smith, of Pittsburgh. Interment was in the Smith cemetery.
