Abner J. Baily

Abner J. Baily, aged 77 years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hagan John, of Kirby, Friday evening, November 20, 1936, at 5:10 o'clock. Death was due to complications following a long illness.

The deceased was born at Kirby, July 3, 1859, a son of Abner M. and Mary Bowen Baily, deceased, and was a lifelong resident of that community. He was united in marriage with Martha Shriver, October 15, 1879. His wife died October 5, 1913. A son and daughter, E. Frank Baily and Mrs. Hagan John, both of Kirby, survive along with three grandchildren, William Baily, Harry Baily, and Hagan Baily, all of Kirby. One brither, Elva B. Baily, also survives. Mr. Baily had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Kirby for a number of years.

Short funeral services will be held at the late home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with additional services in the Kirby Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Frederick Speelman, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be in Fairall Cemetery.

ABNER J. BAILY DIES IN HIS HOME AT KIRBY

WAYNESBURG, Nov. 20 - Abner J. Baily, aged 77 years, lifelong resident of Greene County, died at 5:10 o'clock this afternoon in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hagan John, of Kirby.

Mr. Baily suffered a stroke of paralysis 16 years ago and had been in poor health since that time. Paralysis and other complications caused his death.

He was born near Kirby, in Whiteley township, July 3, 1859, a son of Abner M. and Mary Bowen Baily. He followed farming and stock raising until failing health caused him to retire.

October 15, 1879, he married Martha Shriver, who died October 5, 1913.

He leaves one son, E. Frank Baily, of Whiteley Township, and one daughter, Mrs. Hagan John, with whom he lived; three grandchildren, William, Harry and Hagan, all of Kirby, and one brother, Elva B. Baily, of Kirby.

Mr. Baily was a lifelong member of the Kirby Methodist Episcopal Church.

The funeral will be held Sunday, November 22, with short services at the John home at 1:30 o'clock, and further services in the Lirby Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 o'clock. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Frederick Spielman. Burial will be in the Fairall Cemetery.
