Mrs. Lucy S. Baily

Mrs. Lucy Sayers Baily, aged 41 years, wife of Harry F. Baily and a member of one of Waynesburg's most prominent families, died Friday evening, December 19, at 6 o'clock at her home in Wast Wayne street after a lingering illness. Mrs. Baily had been in ill health for several months, but her condition did not become serious until about a month ago. She was born January 23, 1883, a daughter of the late Thomas W. Sayers and Jennie Fordyce Sayers, and had been a lifelong resident of Waynesburg. After completing her elementary education she attended Wayesburg College, graduating in the class of 1905, and for ten years following her graduation taught latin in the college. She was married June 25, 1908, to Harry F. Baily, prominent insurance and real estate dealer, of Waynesburg. Besides her husband she leaves two sons, John Ewing and Thomas Sayers Baily, at home, and one sister, Mrs. W. C. Montgomery, of Waynesburg, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Horn, is dead. Mrs. Baily was a member of the Library and Rhodoro clubs and was one of the most popular women of Waynesburg. She had beena lifelong member of the Presbyterian church [remainder unreadable].

Mrs. Lucy Sayers Baily was born January 23, 1883, a daughter of Thomas W. Sayers and Jennie Fordyce Sayers, and died December 19, 1924, at her home on East Wayne street. For two years after her graduation from Waynesburg College she taught Latin in that institution. June 25, 1908 she married Harry F. Baily, a prominent insurance and real estate dealer, who graduated from the College in the Class of 1904. Besides her husband, she leaves two sons John Ewing and Thomas Sayers Baily, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Sayers Montgomery (class 1903). On sister Mary Sayers Horne (class 1899) died several years ago. Mrs. Baily was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Library Club and the Rhodoro Club. She had a wide circle of friends.
