Fordyce Blaker

Fordyce Blaker, aged 48 years, a supervisor of Perry township and one of the most prominent residents of the Shannon Run district, died suddenly Saturday morning, October 4, at 8:30 o'clock at his home near Mt. Morris. Mr. Blaker had been in his usual health Friday and had worked on the road all day. During the night he became slightly ill, but his condition did not become alarming until Saturday morning when he was suddenly stricken and lived but about five minutes. His death was due to heart failure, superinduced by indigestion. Mr. Blaker was a son of the late C. C. Blaker and Elizabeth Fordyce Blakerand had resided all his life in the community where he died. He was a successful farmer and stock raiser and was a member of the Claughton Chapel Methodist Episcopal church. Besides his wife who before her marriage was Miss Carrie Belle Hickman, and one son Willis, he leaves four brothers and three sisters, namely: Porter Blaker, of near St. Clairsville, O.; Emri Blaker, of Waynesburg; John L. and Jesse Blaker, of Mt. Morris; Mrs. Connor Stephens, of Blockton, Ia.; Mrs. Snowden White, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. Ralph Mattiford, of Clarksburg, W. Va. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Claughton Chapel church, conducted by Rev. J. N. Scholes, pastor of the First Christian church of Waynesburg. Interment was in the Claughton cemetery.
