Vernon M. Blaker
Vernon M. Blaker, 57, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5, died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 1964, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital after being seriously ill for three weeks. He was born November 11, 1906, at Brave, a son of the late Imri E. and Mary Tennant Blaker. All his life was spent in the Waynesburg community. He was a well-known auto mechanic. For several years he operated his own garage and had been shop foreman for different automobile agencies in Waynesburg. For the last few years he has owned and operated with his son, Merle Blaker's Pennzoil station in Waynesburg. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church at Ruff Creek, and was a member of Moose Lodge 461, Waynesburg. He is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Lillie Blaker, of Kirby; his wife, Louise Wood Blaker, three daughters, Mary Lou, wife of George E. Salsberry, of Washington; Sue, wife of Jack Watkins, of Winter Park, Fla.; Patricia, wife of Charles Tipton, of Lower Burrell; two sons, Merle, of Waynesburg, and William, of Greensburg; and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harry Garber, of Waynesburg, R. D. 5, and Mrs. Lillian Waslch, of Waynesburg, R. D. 3. One son, one daughter and one brother are deceased.
