WELL KNOWN School Teacher is Now Dead Mrs. Ruh Bowdle Passes Relatives Informed of Demise in New York City at Home of Daughter - Burial Here. Word has been received here by relatives of the death of Mrs. Ruh Bowdle, widow of the late Thomas Bowdle, in New York city. Mrs. Bowdle was a former well known resident of Piqua and her death will come to her Piqua friends as cause for deep and sincere grief. Mrs. Bowdle had been living in recent years in Cleveland. Last winter she went to New York to live with her daughter, Mrs. Harry Rayner, with whom she had since made her home. On Christmas morning Mrs. Bowdle suffered a stroke of paralysis and before that had been failing in health. Mrs. Bowdle was long a resident of Piqua. She was for years on of the ablest teachers employed in the local schools, and to the end of her life retained an interest in all educational matters. There are here many who have during their school years been instructed by her and who cherish many pleasant recollections of her. Her maiden name was Miss Ruh Fordyce. She was about 80 years of age. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Rayner of New York, and by one sister, Mrs. M. E. Wilson, of West Milton. The body was brought to Piqua for burial this morning and was taken to the home of E. B. Bowdle in north Downing street. Piqua Leader-Dispatch, May 15, 1909 (Miami County, OH) |
