Truman R. Calvert
Longtime supervisor in Wayne Township.

Truman Russell Calvert, 85, of Spraggs R. D. 1, died Saturday, November 30, 1996, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg.

He was born April 7, 1911, in Spraggs, a son of Thomas and Mary Jane Stewart Calvert.

Mr. Calvert lived his entire life in Spraggs. He was a member of Blacksville Baptist Church, Blacksville, W. Va., where he served as a deacon and trustee.

He was a member of East Franklin Grange 1709 and also a member of the Pomona and Pennsylvania State granges.

He was a member of the Greene County Farmers Association and had been an agricultural 4-H Club leader for 10 years. He enjoyed farming.

He served as Wayne Township auditor for several years and was a Wayne Township supervisor for 16 years.

On September 9, 1939, he married Florence Zimmerman, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Thomas W., of Berlin and Robert E. Calvert of Mercer; five grandchildren, Jeff, Steven, Scott, David and Christine Calvert; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Clarence E. and Richard E. Calvert; and three sisters, Sadie JObes, Elizabeth Yeager and Ella Calvert.
