CHARLES HOMER CHURCH
Charles Homer Church, of Rogersville, well-known retired business man, died Friday, June 6, 1947, at 2:15 a.m., after an illness of four days. Death was attributed to complications. Mr. Church was born March 2, 1872, at Rogersville, a son of John and Elizabeth Fordyce Church. He spent most of his life in Rogersville and Waynesburg. He was a member of Lodge No. 153, Free and Accepted Masons, Waynesburg, and the Pennsylvania Consistory in Pittsburgh. He was secretary of the board of directors of the old Union Deposit and Trust Company for a number of years and secretary of the Center Township Board of Education for a number of years. Mr. Church was a past master of Rogersville Grange and a lineal descendant of Revolutionary War ancestors. His grandfather was owner of all the land which now is the community of Rogersville. He was president and owner of Rosemont Cemetery Company, Rogersville, until his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Lightner Church, three daughters, Nellie, wife of Dr. Donald R. Jacobs, of Waynesburg, Clara, wife of John D. Johnston, of Washington, Pa., and Jeannette, wife of Fred T. Gillogly, of Rogersville; seven grandchildren, Charles, Donald and Marjorie Anne Jacobs, Harriett and John D. Johnston, Jr., Mrs. Harold Sands, and Frederick Gillogly.
