Herschel H. Cole
Herschel H. Cole, aged 38 years, son of the late H. Lindsey and Rebecca Wise Cole, died after a lingering illness, Sunday morning, Aug. 13, 1944, at 2 o'clock, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hazel Ely, near Deerlick. Mr. Cole never married. He was born Aug. 10, 1906, in Wayne Township, near Kuhntown, where he spent most of his early life, later moving to Sycamore where he made his home with his sister following the death of his parents a few years ago. He was a member of the Kuhntown Methodist Church and the Kuhntown Grange. He is survived by two sisters: Mrs. Hazel Ely, Sycamore, R. D. 2; Mrs. Helen C.Gump, of Greensburg; a half-sister, Mrs. Roy Taylor, of Waynesburg, and an adopted sister, Miss Mary Aldene Gump, of Brave. Also surviving are two nieces, Virginia Lee Taylor and Mary Louise Ely.
Cole - Funeral services for Herschel H. Cole, who died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Hazel Ely, Sunday morning, August 13, 1944, will be held Tuesday afternoon, August 15, at 2 o'clock from the residence of Ernest Ely, Sycamore, R. D. 2, with services to be conducted by Rev. Lew F. Johnston. Burial will be in Green Mount Cemetery. Friends will be received at any time at the Ely residence at Sycamore, R. D. 2. George J.
