Hiram Lindsey Cole

Hiram Lindsey Cole, aged 52 years, died at his home near Kughntown Sunday morning, July 4, 1937, at 3 o'clock of pneumonia. He had been ill nine days.

The deceased was a farmer and was born March 29, 1885, in Wayne Township, a son of Peter and Hannah Lee Cooper Cole, deceased. He was twice married, his first wife being Rebecca Wise Cole, who died July 23, 1935. Surviving by this marriage are: Mrs. Roy Taylor, of Waynesburg; Herschel H. Cole, of Kughntown; Mrs. Ernest Ely, of Syacamore and Mrs. Denzel Gump of Greenburg. His second wife was Ethel Marie Tolland Cole, who is in a serious condition in the Greene County Memorial Hospital at the present time. A daughter, Mary Aldine Cole and one stepson, Bobby Tolland and two grandchildren, Mary Louise Ely and Virginia Lee Taylor also survive, along with the following brothers and sisters: J. W. Cole, of Bristoria; Mr. H. W. Patterson, of Pursley; Mrs. E. S. Gump, Mrs. B. R. Gump, Mrs. J. I. Kent, Mrs. Roy L. Wise, Mrs. G. P. Shultz and W. O. Cole, all of Brave. Another brother, A. A. Cole, died recently.

Mr. Cole was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Protestant Church, the Kughntown I. O. O. F. and the Hoover Run Grange.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1 o'clock with the Rev. G. D. Watts officiating. Interment will be in the Green Mount Cemetery.

Hiram Lindsey Cole, 52 yrs. of age, died Sunday, July 4 at 3:00 a.m. after an illness of nine days of pneumonia. He was one of the best known farmers and stock raisers of the Kuhntown area.

Mr. Cole was born in Wayne Twp., Mar. 29, 1885, a son of Peter and Hannah Lee Cooper Cole. He was twice married. His first wife, Rebecca Wise Cole, died in 1935. Children surviving by this marriage are one son, Herschel H. Cole of Kuhntown; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Taylor of Waynesburg; Mrs. Ernest Ealy of Sycamore and Mrs. Denzel Gump of Greensburg and two grandchildren, Mary Louise Ealy of Sycamore and Virginia Lee Taylor. His second wife, Ethel Marie Tolland Cole, survives, but is critically ill in the Greene County Memorial Hospital. Surviving by this marriage are one daughter, Mary Aldine Cole and a stepson, Bobby Tolland, both at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: J. W. Cole, Bristoria; Mrs. W. H. Patterson, Pursley; Mrs. E. S. Gump, Mrs. B. R. Gump, Mrs. J. I. Kent, Mrs. Ray L. Wise, Mrs. G. B. Shultz and W. O. Cole, all of Brave.

Mr. Cole was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Protestant Church, the Kuhntown I. O. O. F. Lodge and Hoovers Run Grange.

Funeral services will be held in the Cole home at Kuhntown, Tuesday, July 6, at 1 p.m. in charge of the Rev. G. D. Watt. Burial will be in the Green Mount Cemetery in Waynesburg.
