Clarinda Cox

Clarinda Whyte Cox, 80, of Rogersville, who served 17 years as a nurse at Greene County Memorial Hospital, died at 12:12 p.m. Friday, September 16, 1988, at the hospital.

She was born September 11, 1908, in Rogersville, A daughter of the late George S. and Leona Scott Whyte, and was a resident of Rogersville all her life.

She was a member of Rogersville Christian Church, the Women of the Moose No. 888, Waynesburg, and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary No. 598, Waynesburg.

Until her retirement in 1974, she was employed as a licensed practical nurse at Greene County Memorial Hospital.

On May 23, 1959, she married William Andrew Cox, who died August 28, 1979.

She is survived by two sons, Robert E. Crouse of Rogersville and Donald L. Crouse of Fayetteville, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer J. (Clara Lee) Higgins of Fairmont, W. Va.; a stepson, William G. Cox of Waynesburg; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a son, Charles William Crouse, who died in infancy; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Blanche Morris and Marie McVicker.

She was the last of her immediate family.
