William A. Cox

Rogersville - William A. (Andy) Cox, 64, of 2nd Street, Rogersville, died on Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 1:05 a.m. at the University Hospital in Morgantown, following an illness of 14 months.

Born Oct. 16, 1914 in Pine Bank, he was the son of the late Walter and the late Bessie Shriver Cox.

On May 23, 1959, he married Clarinda Whyte Crouse, who survives.

He was employed as a PennDOT truck driver before taking disability retirement in 1978.

He was a former member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg, a past member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge, and an active member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Company.

He was also a World War II Veteran, serving with the U.S. Army.

Cox is survived by a son from a former marriage, William G. Cox, Waynesburg; three step-children, Mrs. James (Clara) Higgins, Windham, Ohio, Robert E. Crouse, Rogersville, and Donald L. Crouse, Fayetteville, North Carolina; 11 step-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Arden (Martha) Turner, Waynesburg, Mrs. John (Virginia Rae) Blosser, RD 2, Waynesburg, Mrs. Emerson (Audrey) Moore, RD 2, Waynesburg, and Mrs. William (Mary Louise) Hopkins, RD 6, Waynesburg; and two brothers, Millard (Jack) Cox, RD 5, Waynesburg, and Herbert Cox, Waynesburg.


Friends of William A. (Andy) Cox, 64, of Rogersville, who died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1979, will be received from on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert L. Lantz Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral service will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Garvin Hupp officiating. Burial will be at Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville. The Center Township Volunteer Fire Company will hold a memorial service at the funeral home at 8:30 Wednesday night.
