George Cumpston
George Cumpston, 93, of Mt. Morris, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 1977, in West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. Mr. Cumpston was born March 14, 1884, at Mt. Morris, a son of Alexander and Mary Fordyce Cumpston. He was a retired tinner and had lived most of his life in the Mt. Morris area. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, W. Va. Mr. Cumpston was a veteran of World War I and had served in the United States Army. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 992, Mt. Morris and the VFW Post 9916, Westover, W. Va. Surviving are his widow, Dorothy Ferguson Cumpston, whom he married July 19, 1920; two sons, James Cumpston of Dover, Ohio, and Dale Cumpston of Mt. Morris; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Mrs. Clyde (Madge) Closser of Washington. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
