MRS. ALICE HAINES FORDYCE
Mrs. Alice Haines Fordyce, 70, a native of Greene County, died in her home, Lambert Crossroads, Fayette County, at 10:15 a.m. Friday, April 18, 1952. Her husband is Garfield Fordyce. A daughter of the late William L. and Elizabeth Taylor Haines, she was born Oct. 7, 1881, at Bluff, Jackson Township. Mrs. Fordyce had resided in Fayette County for the past 25 years and was a member of the New Salem Presbyterian Church and the Althea Class of the church. Surviving in addition to her husband are the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Mabel Hoge of Rogersville, Fred A. Fordyce of Monaca, Mrs. pauline Barry of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Ruth Davis of Los Angeles Calif., Claude Fordyce of Lambert, Eugene Fordyce of CLeveland, Ohio, Mrs. Gladys Lightenberger of South Mountain, Pa., Ivan Fordyce Footedale and William Fordyce of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Lona Brown of Amity and Mrs. Eva Strosnider and Mrs. Mary Lemley, both of Waynesburg.
FORDYCE - Funeral services for Alice Haines Fordyce of Lambert Crossroads, Fayette County, wife of Garfield Fordyce, who died Friday, April 18, 1952, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 21, at the late home, followed by further services in the Rogersville Christian Church with the Rev. R. E. Osman officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Friends will be received at the late home after 7 p.m. today (Saturday). C. B. Dearth & Son Funeral Home, New Salem, in charge. Mrs. Fordyce was born at Bluff, Greene County, Oct. 7, 1881, and was a daughter of William L. and Elizabeth Taylor Haines. She was a member of the New Salem Presbyterian Church and Althea Class. She had lived in Fayette County 25 years, moving there from Rogersville. She is survived by her husband and nine sons and daughters: Mrs. Mabel Hoge, Rogersville; Fred A., of Monaca; Mrs. Pauline Berry, of Cleveland, Oh., Mrs. Ruth Davis, of Los Angeles, Calif., Claude, of Lambert; Eugene, of Cleveland; Mrs. Gladys Lightenberger, of South Mountain; Ivan, of Footdale; and William, of Cleveland; 24 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
