HOTEL WOMAN PASSES AWAY

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Mrs. Anna N. Fordyce, aged 71, widow of G. M. Fordyce and one of the oldest hotel women in point of service in this part of the state, who died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday morning, April 25, at her home in the Fordyce hotel, South Morgan street. The services were held in the hotel with Rev. Paul P. Holden, pastor of the Waynesburg Methodist Protestant church, officiating. Interment was in Green Mount cemetery.

Mrs. Fordyce had been in failing health for the past three years, but was able to be about the hotel and look after the business. She became ill at 8:30 Tuesday morning, suffering a heart attack, and her death occurred at 10 o'clock.

Mrs. Fordyce had been in the hotel business here since 1905, conducting the hotel which bears her name, and was widely known throughout southwestern Pennsylvania.

A daughter of Jesse H. and Martha Armstrong Smith, she was born March 7, 1862, at Sycamore and spent all her life in Greene county. She was married January 1, 1880, to G. M. Fordyce, who died March 20, 1908. Mrs. Fordyce was the mother of two children. One son, Jesse H. Fordyce, of Waynesburg, survives. A daughter, Mrs. Pearl Beltz, died in 1928. She also leaves one granddaughter, Mrs. Clareece Fordyce, of Waynesburg, and a brother, Jacob H. Smith, of Rutan.

Mrs. Fordyce was a member of the First Methodist Protestant church of Waynesburg and of the Lady Greene Rebekah Lodge. Members of the Rebekah Lodge held memorial services at the Fordyce hotel Wednesday evening in honor of their departed sister.
