Arleigh R. Fordyce, 68, of Spraggs, died Saturday, November 5, 1988, in the Curry Memorial Home, following a long illness.

Born March 4, 1920 in Dunkard Township, he was the son of John and Mattie Johnson Fordyce.

He was a retired employee of the Diamond Shamrock Co. in their chemical plant at Painesville, Ohio.

Mr. Fordyce was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a life member of the Waynesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post No. 4793, a life member of the Waynesburg Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 123.

He was a member of the Spraggs United Methodist Church.

He was married to Donna M. Warner Fordyce, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Ethel Richter of Davistown; two sons, Dave Denimn of Arizona, and Sammy R. Fordyce of Wheeling, W. Va.; a stepdaughter, Susan Airwyke; a stepson, James A. Airwyke of Waynesburg; a sister, Daisy Arthur of Waynesburg; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five step grandchildren.
