Homer C. Fordyce

Homer Corbly Fordyce, aged 71 years, well known resident of Waynesburg, died Saturday afternoon, June 4, at 3:15 o'clock following a two weeks illness due to paralysis. Mr. Fordyce's death occurred while his sister, Mrs. Jennie Huffman, of near Pine Bank, was being buried in Oakmont cemetery here. Mr. Fordyce had [unreadable] farming the greater part of his life and was widely known throughout the county. He was a son o fthe late Corbly Fordyce and Jane Baily Fordyce, and was born July 3, 1855, at Pine Bank. He had been a lifelong resident of Greene county, living firstat Pine Bank and later in the Bluff community, where he lived until 27 years ago when he moved to Waynesburg. Mr. Fordyce was married January 11, 1874, to Miss Elizabeth Huffman, who survives. To this union were born three daughters: Mrs. J. M. Lewis, of Waynesburg; Mrs. H. H. Evans, of Sycamore, R. D. 1, and Mrs. William E. Cox, of Akron, O. Mr. Fordyce was the last of a family of 12 children. He was a member of the Methodist Protestant church. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. M. Lewis, 214 South Richhill street, with Rev. Francis C. Viele, pastor of the Waynesburg Methodist church, officiating. Interment was in Oakmont cemetery.
