Fordyce, J. Vincent, 58, of 145 Merrit St., Wheeling, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Ohio
Valley General Hospital. he was born April 6, 1909, in Benwood, son of the late Reed and
Agnes Gregory Fordyce. He was a lineman for the Benwood Plant of Wheeling Steel. He was a
member of St. Alphonsus Church. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth A. Schafer Fordyce;
three sons, William Reed of Wheeling, Kenneth J. of Morgantown, and Timothy C. Fordyce of
home; three daughters, Mrs. Donald Krupica of McMechen, Mrs. Thomas Cole of Wheeling, and
Rebecca Sue Fordyce at home; two brothers, R. Leo, Frank Fordyce of Wheeling; five sisters,
Mrs. Marie Uttermohlen, Mrs. Charles Maloney, Mrs. Robert Boyd and Mrs R. A. Conners of
Wheeling, Mrs. Walter Mason of Fairmont; and nine grandchildren. One grandchild preceeded
him in death. Friends may call at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St. Requiem High Mass at
10 a.m. Saturday at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetary. Rosary devotions
at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
