Jessie Fordyce
Jessie T. Fordyce, 99, of Ridgewood Drive, Washington, formerly of Waynesburg, died at 9:50 p.m. Friday, July 18, 1986, in the Kade Nursing Home, Washington, following a long illness. She was born October 24, 1886, in Waynesburg, a daughter of William and Sophronia Craig Taylor. She lived her entire life in Waynesburg, except for the past 11 years. She was the oldest member of the First Christian Church of Waynesburg, where she was a member of the Loyal Women Bible Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Lady greene Rebekah Lodge for 72 years and the Tahoma Club. She had been the owner and operator of the Union Restaurant, which was later known as Myrtle's Townhouse. She was in the restaurant business for more than 70 years. Her husband, Henry L. Fordyce, died September 27, 1971. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Laura) Avis of Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. John (Marguerite) Buchanan of Washington; a son, Harles L. Fordyce of Summerland Key, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, William H. Fordyce; two daughters, Jessie Ameda and Myrtle Conkle; one grandson; one great-grandson; one great-great granddaughter; and three brothers, Walter Taylor, Harles Taylor and Charles Taylor Newspaper obituary, date and source unknown (Greene County, Pennsylvania) |
