Mrs. Lydia B. Fordyce died at her home near Khedive, Greene Co., Pa. Thursday morning
Jan. 13th, 1901 of that dreaded disease pneumonia. All that loving hands and medical
aid could do was done, but to no avail. She was sick only four short days when called
form this world of pain to that home above where no sorrow is known. She was 47 years
of age, a consistent member and worker of the Muddy Creek C. P. church, and also of the
Christian Endeavor Society of which she will be greatly missed. She was a daughter of
Mr. N. H. Biddle, of Carmichaels, and was married Feb. 23, 1871, to Corbly G. Fordyce
now deceased. Three children survive her viz: Earl, Belle and Nelly, besides a host
of friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon Feb. 2
at the Muddy Creek C. P. church by her pastor Rev. Clark assisted by Rev. Hamilton where
a very large number of friends assembled to pay their last tribute of respect, as she
was loved and respected by all who knew her, after which she was laid to rest in the
Muddy Creek cemetery.
Thy warm true heart is still, And thy pale and peaceful face Is resting death's cold chill. Thy hands are clasped upon thy breast, They have kissed thy lovely brow And in their aching hearts they know, They have no mother now.
