Mrs. Malissa B. Fordyce

Mrs. Malissa B. Fordyce, aged 70, widow of Albert G. Fordyce, died Thursday night, November 7, 1929, at 9:15 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry M. Hudson, in Montgomery avenue. Death was due to a stroke of paralysis suffered several months ago. A daughter of William L. and Margaret Knight Burge, she was born December 31, 1858, near New Freeport, and spent her entire life in Greene county. Early in life Mrs. Fordyce united with the Laurel Run Methodist Episcopal church, later transferring her membership to the Mt. Zion Methodist Protestant church, and after removing to Waynesburg became a member of the First Methodist Episcopal church. Mrs. Fordyce was the mother of eight children, six of whom survive as follows: Jacob G. Fordyce, Henry L. Fordyce, Alva A. Fordyce and Mrs. Henry M. Hudson, all of Waynesbrg; Mrs. George D. Haines, of Pine Bank, and Otto A. Fordyce, of Clarksville. Funeral services were held at the Hudson home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and were conducted by Rev. Clarence C. Fisher, pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Waynesburg. Interment was in the Fordyce cemetery in Center township.
