Mrs. Rebecca Fordyce
Mrs. Rebecca Fordyce, aged 84, former Rogersville resident, died Sunday, January 18, 1931, at the home of her step-granddaughter, Mrs. Anna Phillips Caldwell, of Kinross, Mich. Death was due to paralysis from which she had been ill for a period of six weeks. Mrs. Fordyce lived in Rogersville for a number of years, leaving that community six years ago to make her home with Mrs. Caldwell in Kinross, Mich. Her maiden name was Wood and she was twice married. Her first husband was William Phillips, of the Spraggs community, who died 34 years ago. Following his death she married Silas Fordyce, of Rogersville, who has been dead for 22 years. The following step[children by her first marriage survive: George Phillips, of Waynesburg; John R. Phillips, of Waverly, W. Va.;Nicholas E. Phillips, of Mannington, W. Va.; Lafe Phillips, of Michigan, and Mrs. Fanny Franks, of Farmington, Ohio. An adopted daughter, Mrs. Amy Jones Wisecarver, of Toledo, Ohio, also survives. Surviving step-children by her second marriage are: Mrs. W. H. Moore, of Holbrook; William L. and Archibald Fordyce, of Rogersville, R. D. 1; Jesse Fordyce, of Hazelwood; Garfield Fordyce and Mrs. John Kiger, of West Alexander; Mrs. Ella Orndoff, of Waynesburg R. D. 7. The late Westley Wood, of Blacksville, W. Va., was a brother. Mrs. Fordyce was a member of the Christian church. The body will be brought to the Scott funeral home in ROgersville, bt funeral arrange,ents had not been completed yesterday.
