Roy A. Fordyce
Roy A. Fordyce, 74, of North East, a native of the Hargus Creek section of Center Township, who had a distinguised career as a teacher of vocational agriculture, died June 22, 1967, in a hospital at Erie. Born and reared on the family farm near the village of Woodruff, he was a son of William L. and Cora Mitchell Fordyce, both sides of his family having been among the early residents of Center Township. After attending the public schools in his home area he attended the former Penn State College, now Pennsylvania State University, and held both the bachelor and master degrees of science from that school. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. His first teaching experience was in Greene County, and for some years was principal of the former Ninevah High School, now part of the West Greene School District. Fraternally he was a member of Masonic Lodge 399 at North East. He was also a member of the North East Methodist Church and served as a member of the church's official board. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Bradford Fordyce, who is also a native of Greene County; one daughter, Mrs. Mae Jean Frazell, of Hamburg, N. Y.; four sisters, J. H. Orndoff of Waynesburg, Mrs. Warren DeLancy of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Charles Mitchell, of Rogersville and Mrs. Bert Lee, of Long Island, N. Y.; one brother, Howard Fordyce, of Cleveland, and one granddaughter, Julie Frazell, of Hamburg. One other daughter, Harriet Elane, and one son, Robert, sre deceased, his own having been killed in action during World War II. Funeral services and burial were held at North East June 26.
