Silas R. Fordyce

Silas R. Fordyce, 86, of R. D. 1 Holbrook, died at 4:55 p.m. Friday, September 13, 1991, in his home.

He was born August 10, 1905, in Center Township, a son of Archibald G. and Delilah Hamilton Fordyce.

Mr. Fordyce had been a resident of Jackson Township since 1971.

He formerly attended Willow Grove Independent Baptist Church.

Mr. Fordyce was a former employee of Peoples Natural Gas Co. at the Brave pump station. He was last employed by U. S. Steel as a mason at the Robena Mine. He retired in 1971 after 35 years of service.

He was a member of United Mine Workers union Local 6321, District 4, in Masontown.

Mr. Fordyce was married October 22, 1927, to Elizabeth May Ely, who survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Carolyn) West of Lorain, Ohio; a son, Raymond E. Fordyce of Lorain, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was the last of his immediate family.

Deceased are a daughter, Audrienne Kerr, who died Saturday, September 14, 1991; a granddaughter, Kim Kerr; two brothers, Ralph and Ted Fordyce; and a sister, Georgia Phillips.
