VERMONT -- Stanley S. Fordyce, 80, of 613 S. Main St. died at 7:42 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at his home.

Born July 10, 1918, in Vermont, Ill., to Perry and Carrie Stauffer Fordyce, he married Isobel Skiles on Aug. 6, 1965, in Springfield. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Michael of Crosby, Minn., Darrel of Marshfield, Mo., Bradley of Brainerd, Minn., and Jesse of Wayzata, Minn.; one daughter, Tamara Fordyce of Brainerd; one stepson, Ron Brown of Havana; two stepdaughters, Ginny Green of Caseyville and Sherry Boggs of Havana; 11 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

One son, Kyle, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

He was a 28-year Army veteran, serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was a member of Carroll-Rankin American Legion Post 26 and the 507th Parachute Infantry Association of the 17th Airborne.

He was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at his church. The Rev. Jerry Sawyer will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kost Memorial Home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his American Legion post.

Memorials may be made to his church or Vermont Rescue Squad.
