Donald Fox
Retired as mechanic at Orndoff Farm Equipment

Donald Fox, 73, of White's Ridge Road, Waynesburg, died at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2001, in his home after a cancer related illness.

He was born October 4, 1927, in Perry Township, a son of Earl and Nettie Wade Fox, and had resided in Franklin Township since 1935.

Mr. Fox was a former member of Throckmorton United Methodist Church in East View.

He was an employee of the former Coca-Cola plant and Waynesburg Hardware, where he was the first in Greene County to operate a blade sharpener for the old reel type lawnmower. He also worked at National Transit Pipeline, and was a former automobile mechanic at Wade's Body Shop. For 17 years he was employed by the former Puglia Buick in Waynesburg, and from 1963 until his 2001 retirement, was employed as a tractor mechanic at Orndoff Farm Equipment in Waynesburg.

Mr. Fox enjoyed working on and repairing small engines.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a technician 5th grade with Troop A of the 10th Constabulary Squadron. He was awarded the Army of Occupation and World War II Victory Medal.

On July 30 1968, he married Ruby R. Chedester, who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Gary Eugene Fox of Mt. Morris; two daughters, Donna May Ratlowski of Waynesburg and Deborah Sanko of Cleveland, Ohio; a stepson, Richard Duane Thomas of Rogersville; a stepdaughter, Norma Jean Wise of Waynesburg; four sisters, Marie Marshall and Kathleen and Madalyn Fox, all of Waynesburg, and Aldine Heldstrum of Chicago, Ill; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A sister, Lela Fox, is deceased.


FOX - Friends of Donald Fox of White's Ridge Road, Waynesburg, who died Wednesday, September 12, 2001, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 16, with the Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Graveside military rites will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793, James Farrell American Legion Post 330 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care Inc., 58 East Greene Street, P.O. Box 72, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
