Edward S. Gump
Edward S. Gump, 73, of Brave Star Route, died at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, 1965, at his residence. Mr Gump had been mowing the lawn when he suffered a heart attack. Born February 27, 1892 in Wayne Township, near Kughntown, the son of Leonard and Jane McGlumphy Gump, he resided in the Brave-Kughntown area all of his life. In 1957 he retired from Peoples Gas Co. with 44 years of service at the Brave pumping station. Always active in community affairs, he was a member of Kents Methodist Church, the Mixed Bible Class, Volunteer Firemen and had worked with the Boy Scouts and softball league. He was twice married. His first wife, Effie Cole Gump, died in 1939. His widow, Myrle Tennant Gump, survives as does a son, Franklin Neil Gump of Burbank, Calif. Also survivng is a sister, Mrs. Claude White of Paintsville, Ky., and a brother, Thomas M. of Brave. One daughter and one sister are deceased.
Friends of Edward S. Gump of Brave Star Route, who died Friday, June 25, 1965, are being received after 7 P.M. Saturday in the Mariner and Milliken funeral Home, 197 N. Maiden St. Services will be held 1:30 P.M. Monday in Kents Methodist Church, Brave, with Rev. Neil Rogers in charge. Burial at Greene County Memorial Park.
