Edith Whyte Guthrie Greene County native lived in Grove City for 41 years Edith Whyte Guthrie, 91, of Grove City, formerly of Waynesburg, died Wednesday, September 1, 1993, in Orchard Manor, Grove City, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 10, 1902, in Franklin Township, a daughter of John E. and Rachie McNurlin Whyte. Mrs. Guthrie spent her early life in Greene County, and for the past 41 years was a resident of Grove City. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy of Leesburg. Mrs. Guthrie and her husband, the late Norman Guthrie, served as cottage parents at George Junior Republic, a boys' school in Grove City, unti their retirement in 1964. She also was a homemaker. Surviving are a son, George N. Guthrie of Shelby, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, Keith Guthrie, Kenneth Guthrie, Bradley Guthrie, Brady Guthrie, DeChanda Summers, Caroline Ganem, Jeff Guthrie, Edith McFeely and Emily McFeely. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Deceased are her husband, who died April 4, 1982; two daughters, Thelma Eileen Guthrie and Electa Jean McCaral; a granddaughter, Thelma Eileen Guthrie; a sister, Margaret W.
