Edith P. Haines
Department of Welfare retired supervisor Edith P. Haines, 85, of 173 Willow Road, Waynesburg, died at 2:15 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2000, in Arbors Nursing Home, Marietta, Ohio. She was born June 7, 1914, in Mt. Morris, a daughter of Leslie and Mae Martin Lemley. For 60 years, Mrs. Haines was an active member of the former Kirby United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She taught elementary school for a short time before going to work for Greenway Manufacturing in Waynesburg for several years. She then worked for the state Department of Welfare as a caseworker and after 20 years retired as a supervisor. Mrs. Haines enjoyed needlework, while her eyes permitted, and bowled until she was 80 years old. On June 25, 1938, she married Leslie W. Haines, who died January 7, 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Cowell of Marietta, Ohio; two grandchildren, Lori Dickinson and Michael Cowell; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Horn of Greensboro, N.C., and Vinnie Pinkney of Morgantown, W.Va. Deceased are two sons, James L. Haines and one who died in infancy; and a granddaughter, Paula Rowell.
HAINES - Friends of Edith P. Haines of 173 Willow Road, Waynesburg, who died Friday, February 4, 2000, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 6, with the Rev. Joseph Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris. Greene County Observer-Reporter, February 5, 2000 (Greene County, PA) |
