Geraldine B. Haines, 60, of 87 South Washington Street, Waynesburg a well-known school teacher
for the past 31 years, died unexpectedly at 5:45 a.m. Monday, July 5, 1965, in the Washington
Hospital.
She was born August 1, 1904, in Gilmore Township near Pine Bank, to the late H. Charles and Mart Strawn Roberts. Most of her life was spent in the Jollytown and Pine Bank areas; she had moved to Waynesburg a few months ago. She was a graduate of Washington High School and Waynesburg College and for over 31 years was an elementary teacher in the Central Greene School district, the last nine years in Wayne Township. She was secretary of the Pythian Sisters, an auxillary group to the Knights of Pythias Lodge at Pine Bank. She was also an active member of the Jollytown Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church; the pennsylvania State Teachers Association and the national Teachers Association. She is survived by her husband, Victor F. Haines, also a school teacher and a son, Billy Lee, a graduate student at West Virginia University.
