Oscar Haught
Oscar Haught, well known Waynesburg businessman, died suddenly at his home, 68 South Richhill street, Sunday, March 19, 1950 at 10:45 p.m. Although he had been in failing health for the past two years, his death was unexpected. Mr. Haught was born in Monogalia County, W. Va., on April 30, 1886, a son of Nimrod and Nancy Tennant Haught. On June 9, 1905, he was united in marriage with Julia Whitlatch who survives him. He was a resident of Waynesburg for 21 years coming here from Fairview, W. Va. He operated a upholstering shop but retired from activity last November due to ill health. He was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church, Fairview, W. Va. and the WaynesburgLodge, No. 767, B.P.O. Elks. Surviving with his wife are his children, Kenneth Haught, of Penwell, Tex.; Ralph Haught, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. John M. Riggs, Fairmont, W. Va.; five grandchildren, John Jr., James and Judith Riggs, and Kenneth Jr. and Michael Haught. Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Jesse Mercer, Mrs. Ray Straight, Miss Grace and Miss Jane Haught, all of Fairview, W. Va.; Howard and Adrian Haught, also of Fairview.
HAUGHT - Funeral services for Oscar Haught, who died suddenly at his home 66 S. Richhill St., Sunday, March 19, 1950, will be held Wednesday, March 22, 1950 with short services at the Weaver Funeral Home at 1 p.m., followed by further services at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Church, Basnettsville near Fairview, W. Va. Rev. Samuel E. Brown will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the Weaver Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today.
