Mary Jones Headlee Morgantown homemaker active with 4-H program Mary Jones Headlee, 90, of Headlee Avenue, Morgantown, W. Va., died Friday, December 9, 1994, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. She was born January 2, 1904, in Brock, a daughter of Lindsey and Sarah Jane Woods Jones. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Headlee was the volunteer leader of Flatts Fair Flyers 4-H Club during the 1930s and 1940s. She also was active with Drummond Chapel Church, Flatts Elementary School and the Easton Avery Extension Homemakers Club. In 1992, the Mary J. Headlee Scholarship was established by Ruth A. Potter, Mrs. Headlee's daughter, in honor of her years of service to the Monongalia County 4-H program. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William (Kathleen) Butts of Pullman, Wash., Mrs. Steve (Ruth) Potter of Bethesda, Md., and Mrs. Clifford (Nancy) Lundberg of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Linden Headlee of Morgantown, W. Va.; two sisters, Bertha Phillips and Opal Tanner; a brother, Clark Jones; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are her husband, Dr. Alvah John Washington Headlee, who died in January 1990; a son, David Alvvah Headlee, who died in July 1990; a sister; and seven brothers. HEADLEE - Friends of Mary Jones Headlee of Headlee Avenue, Morgantown, W. Va., who died Friday, December 9, 1994, will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street Morgantown, W. Va., where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, with the Rev. William R. Kinsey officiating. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
