Mrs. Sarah H. Headlee

Mrs. Sarah H. Headlee, aged 85, wife of David Lincoln Headlee, died Friday morning, Oct. 29, 1943, at 12:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. W. John, 166 West Wayne street, after an illness of 15 months due to ailmenst incident to her advanced years.

A lifelong resident of Greene County, she was born Sept. 21, 1858, in Perry Township, a daughter of Lorenzo and Charlotte Dulaney Headley. She was married in 1888 to David Lincoln Headlee, who survives. Mrs. Headlee was a member of the First Methodist Church of Waynesburg. She had resided in Waynesburg for the last several years.

Besides her husband she leaves two sons and one daughter: Rev. Harry J. Headlee, of Swissvale; Mrs. F. W. John, of Waynesburg, and L. Floyd Headley, of Marion, O. There are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


HEADLEE - Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah H. Headlee, wife of D. L. Headlee, of Waynesburg, who died Friday morning, Oct. 29, 1943, will be held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 31, either at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Forney W. John, 166 West Wayne street, or at the First Methodist Church, North Richhill street, with Rev. F. D. Esenwein in charge. Interment will be in Oakmont Cemetery. Friends will be received at the John home at any time. C. W. Parkinson is the funeral director.

Mrs. D. L. Headlee Called By Death

WAYNESBURG, Oct. 29. - Mrs. Sarah E. Headlee, 85, wife of D. L. Headlee, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 1943, in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Forney W. John, 166 West Wayne street, Waynesburg.

Mrs. Headlee, a daughter of Lorenzo and Charlotte Delaney Headley, was born Sept. 21, 1858, in Perry Township. She spent her early life in Ohio, and then returned to Greene County.

Surviving are her husband, D. L. Headlee; three children, Rev. Harry J. Headlee, Swissvale; Mrs. Forney W. John, Waynesburg and L. Floyd Headlee, Marion, O.; also three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.
