Ray Fleming Headley

Ray Fleming Headley, 77, of Spraggs, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 1973 in West Virginia University Medical Center, Morgantown, after a short illness.

Born June 8, 1896 in Blacksville, W. Va., he was the son of David L. Headley and Margaret Kiger, and was married in 1922 to the late former Helen Whitlatch, who is deceased.

Mr. Headley was a retired coal miner, having been an employee of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corp. Bobtown mine, and had spent all his life in the Spraggs area.

He was associated with the Bailey Mission Assembly of God Church in Osage, W. Va., and was also a member of the United Mine Workers Local 6159.

Surviving him are four sons, Alvin Headley of Spraggs; Burris Headley of M. Morris; Roy Headley of Hyattsville, Md.; and Carl Headley of Leech Farm VA Hospital, Pittsburgh; two daughters, Mrs. James (Ruth) Waychoff of Youngstown, Ohio; and Mrs. Donald (Doris) Forquer of Core, W. Va.; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother, Otley Headley of Spraggs; and a sister, Mrs. Ina Brock of Spraggs.
