Ruth F. Hickman

Member of Mt. Morris Methodist Church

Ruth F. Hickman, 95, of Mt. Morris, died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, February 24, 2000, in her home.

She was born October 4, 1904, in Masontown, a daughter of Eugene and Fidella Aultman Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Hickman was a member of Mt. Morris Methodist Church, a member of the Thimble Club in Mt. Morris and a former member of James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 Auxiliary of Mt. Morris.

While her health permitted, she enjoyed playing bridge in several different clubs.

Mrs. Hickman worked as a news correspondent in Mt. Morris for the Washington Observer, Democrat-Messenger, Morgantown Dominion Post, Uniontown Herald and Point Marion News.

She worked in several business ventures along with her husband, and she was a homemaker.

Surviving are two daughters, Jeanne H. King and Hilda B. Drodge, both of Morgantown, W.Va.; six grandchildren, Gregg Barbe, Anita Hudson, Michelle Shaffer, Karen Corbett Johnson, Richard E. King and Sharon L. Slinde; 13 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased is her husband, Ralph E. Hickman, who died December 4, 1982; a sister, Marie Fitzgerald Reeder; a brother, William Fitzgerald; and a grandson, Ralph Scott King.


HICKMAN - Friends of Ruth F. Hickman of Mt. Morris, who died Thursday, February 24, 2000, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., corner of Ellsworth Avenue and Route 19, Mt. Morris. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 26, in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris, with the Rev. Fred Tomlinson officiating.
