Retired Postal Employee Dead

Henry M. Hudson, 65, well known retired postal employee, of Waynesburg, died at his home at 82 Montgomery avenue, Thursday evening, March 30, 1944, about 9 o'clock. He suffered a stroke of paralysis in April, 1942, and a second stroke in March, 1943, and since that time has been bedfast.

He was born January 22, 1879, at Kirby, the son of the late Henry M. Hudson, Sr., and Rebecca Varner Hudson.

On Sept. 30, 1905, he was united in marriage with Ella Fordyce, who survives.

Mr. Hudson came to Waynesburg at the age of 17, and in 1902 started to work at the Waynesburg postoffice as a postal clerk. He retired in 1942, after forty years of service, due to ill health.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church and for several years was a member of the board of stewards and also served in the position of librarian of the church for a number of years.

Surviving besides his wife is one son, Allan A. Hudson, of Mt. Morris Star Route; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Jack) Weaver, of Groveton, Pa.; and two grandchildren, William and Barbara Lynn Weaver, of Groveton, Pa. He was the last member of his own family.
