Forney W. John Dies Suddenly
Suffering a cerebral hemorrhage, Forney W. John, aged 52, prominent and highly respected Waynesburg citizen, died suddenly at his home on West Wayne street Tuesday morning. Mr. John had been in his usual health and had been in Washington the preceding day to visit Clarence Huffman, who is a patient in the Hillsview sanitarium. Mr. John arose about five o'clock Tuesday morning and was pumping a bucket of water when he became ill. Returning to the kitchen he called his wife, but his condition became rapidly worse and when a physician arrived he was already unconscious. His death occurred at 7:30. Mr. John was born December 29, 1880, near Kirby, Whiteley township, and lived all his life in that community and in Waynesburg. He was a son of Reason F. John and the late Emma Fox John. Mr John attended Waynesburg College and then taught school for a few years. He served as deputy clerk of the Green County courts under C. K. Spraggand also held the position of deputy register and recorder under Register and Recorder J. F. Tilton. He devoted much of his time to farming and stock raising, not only while residing in Whiteley township but ever since moving to Waynesburg in September, 1925. He was married September 24, 1908 to Miss Eva Headley, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. D. L. Headley, to which union was born one daughter, Mary Louise, at home. Besides his wife and daughter he leaves a sister, Mrs. Carrie B. Forydce, wife of P.Corbly Fordyce, of 1617 Hillsdale avenue, Dormont, and his father, R. F. John, who since the death of his wife in 1926 had made his home with his two children. Mr. John was an active member of the First Methodist Episcopal church of Waynesburg and at the time of his death was a member of the official board. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 in the First Methodist Episcopal church, North Richhill street, in charge of the pastor, Rev. C. C. Fisher.
