Jeremiah Lemley

Jeremiah Lemley, aged 76 years, a widely known farmer and stock raiser of Whiteley township, was found dead Saturday morning, May 26, at 10 o'clock at his potato patch near his home, Kirby, R. D. 1. Mr. Lemley had been in his usual health and had not complained of feeling ill before leaving the house to work his potato patch but was stricken with apoplexy while at work there. It is thought he had been dead about two hours when he was found. Mr. Lemley had been a lifelong resident of the Kirby section and was a son of Samuel and Margaret Lemley, deceased. He was twice married, his first wife being Lucinda Whitlatch and following her death he married Mrs. Mary Masters, who survives. No children survive by either union. One brother, Joseph Lemley, in Iowa, is living. Mr. Lemley was a member of the Valley Chapel Methodist Episcopal church. The funeral was held Monday. Short services were held at his late home, after which further services were conducted in the Valley Chapel church. Interment was in the Valley Chapel cemetery.
