Mrs. Annette Wood Long
Word has been received here of the death of Annette Wood Long, in the Memorial Hospital, at Charlotte, N.C., about midnight, Saturday, Nov. 2, 1946. Mrs. Long was well known in this county, having lived for several years at Rogersville. She was born near Shepherd, Mich., Aug. 17, 1876, the daughter of Edward and Sarah Fordyce Wood and spent her early life in that state, where she attended Yerington College at St. Louis and studied music. She was prominent as a teacher of music, having taught in this county, at Romney, W. Va., and at Pittsburgh, where she resided for severakl years. On July 19, 1919, she married J. E. Long, of Pittsburgh and they located at Charlotte, N. C., where they have been employed by the Andrews Music Company, conducting a studio of music. Early in life she united with the Christian Church and has always taken an active interest in religious affairs. She was a member of the Charlotte Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Long visited here only a few weeks ago and her death came as a great shock to the many friends. Surviving is her husband, an adopted daughter, Kathleen Virginia, a brother, C. F. Wood of Waynesburg, a nephew, Duane Wood, of Rogersville, and two nieces Alice Stockdale, of Waynesburg and Kathleen Hill of Alexandria, Virginia. Funeral services were held at Charlotte, Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the First Christian Church and burial was made in Sharon Park Cemetery, at Charlotte.
