Thomas M. Longstreth

Thomas M. Longstreth, 81, of 505 North Porter Street, Waynesburg, died early Saturday, July 3, 1971, of a lingering illness.

Born in Center Township on Aug. 31, 1889, the son of the late Isaac T. and Margaret Bell Eagon Longstreth, heresided in the Rogersville area until 1959 when he moved to Waynesburg.

His wife, the former Mary Smith Lognstreth, died in December, 1964.

A son, Thomas S. Longstreth, died in October, 1956.

He was a former member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church and later a member of the First United Methodist Church, at Waynesburg. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and a veteran of World War I, having served in France. Mrs. Longstreth was educated in Greene County Schools and later attended California State Normal School, now California State College, at California. He taught in various schools throughout Greene County for 45 years. He was also a former board member of the State Board of Assistance and served as a state inspector for G. I. apprentices throughout the state.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Beverly Jean Longstreth; three sisters: Mrs. Rose Poe, of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Blanche Morris and Mrs. Bessie Rattigan, both of Waynesburg, and two brothers, Hal Longstreth, of New Salem, and Doak Longstreth, of Rogersville.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
