Louis Martin
Louis H. Martin, 72, of Sycamore R. D. 1, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 1987, in Presbyterian University Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was not in the best of health for several years and became seriously ill in September. He was born May 16, 1915, in Center Township, a son of the late Levi Eddy (Ed) and Ina Willison Martin. He was a Center Township resident all his life. He was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church. He had served as an auditor and school director in Center Township for several years. He was a member of the East Franklin Grange for 25 years. He also was a member of the Graysville Lodge No. 165, Knights of Pythias, and at the time of his death served as treasurer. He was a past grand chancellor and in 1984 was named Pythian of the Year for the state of Pennsylvania. He was employed in construction for several years and was a farmer all his life. He worked as truck driver for the state Department of Transportation for 15 years, until retiring in 1980. He is survived by his wife, Martha Orndoff Martin, whom he married June 22, 1935; a son, Thomas O. Martin of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Mrs. John C. (Sarah) Watson of Holbrook R. D. 1; two grandsons, Brett L. Watson of Morgantown, W. Va., and Brad E. Martin of Carlisle; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Martin of Irwin. Deceased are a brother, Arthur R. Martin; a sister, Rachel May Martin; and a grandson, Brent E. Martin. He was the last of his immediate family. Newspaper obituary, date and source unknown (Greene County, PA) |
