Died Martin - April 9, 1871, at the residence of his father-in-law, Samuel Crouse, in Centre tp., Silas W. Martin, aged 30 years, 5 months and 22 days. In less than two weeks after the death of his wife, Silas was called "Over there" to meet his beloved companion and enjoy the blessings of immortality. He was in ordinary health when Caroline was burried [sic]. In about a week he was taken down with Pneumonia and lived but a few days. The few years of my acquaintance with him made me esteem him as among the very best of men. He was a kind husband and done everything possible for his wife during her long illness; while she fully appreciated his kind attentions. He was a member of church, and though mostly delerious [sic] during his last illness, we believe him gone to a better land. Waynesburg Republican, May 3, 1871 (Greene County, PA) |
