George S. Masters
George S. Masters, 76, of Mt. Morris R. D. 1, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 1970, in the St. Vincent Palotti Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va. He had not been in the best of health for the past several months. He was born May 7, 1894 in Gilmore Township near Pine Bank, a son of Nicholas and Mary Headley Masters. Mr. Masters had spent the early part of his life in the Pine Bank area and for several years had lived at Garards Fort. Since 1966, he had resided in the home of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Masters, of Mt. Morris, R.D. 1. He was a member of the John Corbly Baptist Church at Garards Fort; Greene County Horseman's Association, and Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461. Mr. masters was a retired farmer and for several years was a supervisor in Greene Township. He was also employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. While his health permitted, he was active in the Greene County Horseman's Association owning his own show horses which he showed in various horse shows in the area. His wife, Lela May Masters, died September 26, 1965. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Lucille Masters, of New York, N. Y.; two sons, High and Paul, both of Wadsworth, Ohio; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Connor, of Waynesburg, and one brother, Arthur L. Masters, of Mt. Morris, R. D. 1. One son and one brother, Robert, are deceased. Funeral services were held Friday with burial in Garards Fort Cemetery.
