Auto Crash Results in Death of Woman.

Mrs. Ella W. McCollum, of Nettle Hill, Injured on Election Day, Dies in Waynesburg Hospital.

As a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on election day, September 15, Mrs. Ella W. McCollum, wife of Joseph McCollum, of Nettle Hill, died in the Greene County Memorial hospital, Saturday morning, at 9 o'clock. She was aged 56 years.

The accident occurred near the top of the Grimes hill in Jackson township, when Mr. and Mrs. McCollum and their son, Jack, and Miss Ardith Roberts, were on their way to the polls to vote. The car was driven by Harry Weaver, of Jackson township, who lost control and the machine crashed into the guard rail at the side of the road. Mrs. McCollum sustained a compound fracture of her left leg and a broken collarbone. Her son, Jack, was seriously injured and is still confined to the hospital.

Mrs. McCollum was a daughter of Dr. Thomas WIlliams and Elizabeth Crouse Williams, deceased, and was born May 31, 1875, near Nettle Hill. She was united in marriage with Joseph T. McCollum in 1906. Beside her husband two children survive, Mrs. Helen Grimes and Jack W. McCollum, both of Nettle Hill; also the following brothers and sisters: Layton Williams and Mrs. Jennie Granlee, Nettle Hill; Mrs. Etta Stockdale, Canonsburg; Dr. S. T. Williams, Waynesburg, and Mrs. F. R. Grim, Deep Valley. Mrs. McCollum was a member of the Bethany Methodist Protestant church at Nettle Hill. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock in the home, with further services in the Bethany M. P. church, conducted by the Rev. E. G. Schott, of Spraggs. Interment in the church cemetery.
