Denis A. Meighen
Former Employee of National Annealing Box Co.

Denis Albert Meighen, 77, of Graham Avenue, Washington, died Saturday, November 8, 1997, in Humbert Lane Health Care Center, Washington, following a one-year illness.

He was born October 15, 1920, in Pine Bank, a son of John W. and Jane Gunn Meighen.

Mr. Meighen was employed at National Annealing Box Co. in the welding and maintenance departments.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of South Franklin Fire Department.

Mr. Meighen attended Greene County schools and later attended Allegheny Technical Institute, where he studied radio and television.

He served with the US Navy during World War II.

On September 24, 1940, he married Mary T. Crouse, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Denis T. Meighen of Washington and Gary W. Meighen of Latrobe; one daughter, Teresa Harper of Pittsburgh; one sister, Virginia Wachter of Doylestown; eight grandchildren, Eve, Wendy, Patrick and Benjamin Meighen, Beth Rager, Gary J. and Cindy Meighen and Christine Harper; and five great-grandchildren.

Deceased are three grandchildren, Dale, Daren and Gregory Meighen; one sister, Betty Jelenski; and two brothers, Joseph Meighen and the Rev. John W. Meighen.


MEIGHEN - Friends of Denis Albert Meighen of Graham Avenue, Washington, who died Saturday, November 8, 1997, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, in Immaculate Conception Church. Interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
