Grace S. Montgomery

Grace Sayers Montgomery, of 311 North Richhill Street, Waynesburg, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the Greene County Memorial Hospital.

Born April 15, 1880, she was the adughter of the late Thomas W. and Jennie Fordyce Sayers. She was married June 25, 1908 to the late W. C. Montgomery, who passed away in March of 1963.

Active in civic affairs, she was a charter member and former officer of the Women's Auxiliary of the Greene County Memorial Hospital, past president of the Women's CLub, member and former president of the Chatauque Reading Club, former chairman of he Home Department of the State Federation of Women's Clubs.

She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rhodora Club and the State Board of Baptist Churches and a past president of the Women's Organization of the church.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Ford Montgomery, of Baytown, Texas and Walter Montgomery Jr. of Boulder City, Nevada and seven grandchildren. Two sisters are deceased along with a son, Atty. Hugh Montgomery and Mrs. Virginia McDermott.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a 1903 graduate of Waynesburg College.

Grace Sayers Montgomery, of 311 North Richhill street, Waynesburg, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 22, 1963, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for some time.

She was born April 15, 1880, a daughter of the late Thomas W. and Jennie Fordyce Sayers.

Mrs. Montgomery was married June 25, 1908 to Attorney Walter C. Montgomery, who died March 9, 1963.

She was a 1903 graduate of Waynesburg College, a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesburg, a member of the Baptist State Board, and president of the women's organization of the church, and the executive board. Mrs. Montgomery also was a member of the Eastern Star; the Rhodora Club; a charter member and former officer of the Women's Auxiliary of Greene County Memorial Hospital.

She was a pasrt president of the Women's Club, and a member and former president of the Chautauqua Reading Club. She was a former chairman of the home department of the State Federation of Women's Clubs.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas Ford Montgomery, of Baytown, Texas, and Walter C. Montgomery Jr. of Boulder City, Nevada; and seven grandchildren.

A son, Attorney Hugh G. Montgomery, and a daughter, Mrs. Virginia McDermott, and two sisters are deceased.
