Harry A. Murdock
Harry A. Murdock, 91, of 97 Montgomery Avenue, Waynesburg, widely known farmer and stockman, died at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 1972, following a lenghty illness. Mr. Murdock, a member of the pioneer Greene County family, had served for many years as a director of the First National Bank and Turst Company of Waynesburg and was also a lifelong member and formertreasurer of the Fordyce United Methodist Chrch. A son of Joseph and Elizabeth Fordyce Murdock, he was born June 22, 1880, at Fordyce and on Jan. 8, 1910, married Marian Murdock. Throughout their married life and until moving to Waynesburg a few years ago they resided in the 150-year-old Murdock family homestead on the farm which has been in the family for more than 200 years. Mrs. Murdock died in 1970. Mr. Murdock was also a long-time member of the East Franklin Grange and its forerunner, the Morrisville Grange, and of Waynesburg Lodge 757, B.P.O. Elks. He was an ardent sports fan, being particularly interested in baseball. Surviving are three sons: Vernon Murdock, of Hemet, Calif.; Raymond (Buck) Murdock, of Waynesburg and Harry Murdock Jr., of Fordyce, three daughters: Nellie Coweison, of Washington; Virginia Wilcox, of Waynesburg, and Mrs. James (Mary) Hawkins, of Waynesburg, R. D. 1; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one brother, Arleigh Murdock, of Monongahela. A daughter is deceased.
Murdock - Friends of Harry A. Murdock, of 97 Montgomery Avenue, Waynesburg, who died Saturday, April 1, 1972, are being received after 12 noon Monday, in the William W. Garrison Funeral Home, 325 East High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Harry Sayre officiating. Burial in Green Mount Cemetery.
Elks Visitation Members of Waynesburg BPO Elks 757, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, 1972, at the William W.
