Josiah Newman Obituary
1906


Josiah Newman was born in Mifflin county, Pennsylvania, Nov.28, 1834. He came to Mentone, Kosciusko county, Ind., in 1884, where he resided until his death , which occurred April 5, 1906, aged 71 years, 4 months and 8 days.

He was the father of five chldren, one dying in infancy. Those living and present today are Mrs. Mattie Goshorn, of Ligonier, J. F. Newman, of South Bend, Beulah and Carl, of Mentone, and a foster daughter, Mrs. L. E. Rose, of Elkhart. He also leaves a wife and three grand-children, one being present, George Goshorn, of Ligonier, and many friends and acquaintances to mourn their loss.

Mr. Newman was an honest and industrious citizen. Although making no profession of religion, he honored it in the lives of those who proved it by their work.

Funeral services were held in the M. E. church, in Mentone, Sunday, April 8, conducted by Rev. C. J. Miner, interment in the Mentone cemetery.

We wish to thank the citizens of Mentone, for their kindness during our sad bereavement, also for the floral offerings.
