Mrs. Joseph S. Orndoff
Mrs. Luella Fordyce Orndoff, aged 63, widow of Joseph S. Orndoff, and one of the most highly esteemed women of Center township, died suddenly at her home near Oak Forest Saturday evening, July 7, at 7:35 o'clock. Mrs. Orndoff was in her usual health and was preparing to come to Waynesburg when she was stricken ill, living only 30 minutes. Death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. A daughter of Silas and Mary Jane Orndoff Fordyce, she was born November 25, 1870, in Center township and spent all her life in that district. She was married February 17, 1889, to Joseph S. Orndoff, whose death occurred four years ago. Mrs. Orndoff was a member of the Willow Grove Christian church and also of the Rogersville Grange. She is survived by three daughters and one son: Mrs. J. Leslie Ross, of Clarksville; Mrs. Roscoe Morris, of Waynesburg, R. D. 7; Mrs. William Kerr and Charles Orndoff, at home. There are four grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers and two sisters, namely: Garfield Fordyce, of New Salem; Archibald Fordyce, of Taylorstown; Mrs. Susan Kiger, of Elm Grove, W. Va., and Mrs. William H. Moore, of Holbrook. Funeral services were held at the Orndoff home yesterday afternoon at 1:30, with Rev. H. E. McNeely, of Mapletown, officiating. JOSEPH ORNDOFF PASSES AWAY SUDDENLY WAYNESBURG, July 8. - Mrs. Ella Fordyce Orndoff, aged 64 years, one of the most highly respected women of Center Township, died at her home near Oak Forest Saturday night, July 7, at 7:35 o'clock. Mrs. Orndoff was in her usual health and was preparing to come to Waynesburg for the evening when she was taken suddenly ill. She lived only 30 minutes. Mrs. Ondoff was born in Center Township, where she spent her entire life, November 25, 1870, a daughter of Silas and Mary Jane Orndoff Fordyce. She was married February 17, 1889, to Joseph Orndoff, whose death occurred four years ago. Mrs. orndoff was a member of the Willow Grove Christian Church and also of the Rogersville Grange. She took and active part in church and community affairs. She is survived by three daughters and one son. They are: Mrs. J. L. Ross, Clarksville; Mrs. Roscoe Morris, Mrs. William Kerr and Charles F. Orndoff, all of Waynesburg R. D. 7. Two brothers, Garfield Fordyce, New Salem; Archibald Fordyce, Taylorstown; two sisters, Mrs. Susan Kiger, Elm Grove, W. Va., and Mrs. William H. Moore, Holbrook, and four grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at the Orndoff home Monday, July 9, at 1:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. H. Ernest McNeely, of Mapletown.
